Vinh LongThe work in a small alley, built on a plot of land of 3×10 m, aims to shorten the distance of 20 km to school when girls start going to school.
This is also a place where the female owner relaxes between working hours, so she does not put too much emphasis on daily living needs.
As requested from the female owner, the house shows the difference through shape, color and space layout. The design is inspired by the shape of a tree house for children, with the “root” and “main branch” being the floor support system and reinforcing the wall along the house.
The “canopy” is the openings for the open living space and the “house” is the private rooms set on the branch.
To handle the small plot, the design team integrated multiple functions into one component. The “tree” is both a structural frame system and a ladder – a vertical traffic axis with enough landing space for additional functions such as a patio, a laundry area. It is also a shading system, creating shade and supporting the “canopy” to grow.
The solution of integrating many functions into one component helps to leave a lot of space for the remaining spaces. Instead of dividing into separate rooms, functional areas are arranged alternately with playgrounds. The open space increases the time spent together by mother and daughter, thereby promoting the bond between them.
Construction to be completed by the end of 2020.
