Ford will rely on Google’s expertise to accelerate in the connected car. The two American giants announced Monday a partnership “unique in its kind”, they insisted, to reinvent the customer experience in the car of tomorrow. Concluded for six years, this alliance will allow “millions of vehicles” of the Ford and Lincoln brands to integrate the Android system and Google applications from 2023, as well as specific services.

“These vehicles will be equipped with Google’s voice assistant, Google Maps browser, as well as Google Play, so that Ford customers can access their favorite applications in their cars,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, during a press point on Monday. The manufacturer’s vehicles will however remain compatible with other systems, in particular Apple CarPlay or Amazon Alexa.
