Red Bull tried to get Verstappen out in FP2, but the RB18 soon went back to the pit because of problems with the hydraulics. The session was interrupted once again when Latifi stopped at the 9th corner. The final minutes in FP2 were also chaotic with running errors all over the track.

Away from the heavyweights, Russell showed off the power of the newly upgraded W13 and topped the leaderboard with a time of 1 minute 29,938 seconds, 0.106 seconds ahead of Leclerc, the FP1 leader. Pérez ranked 3rd, sitting with Hamilton in 4th place, he was 0.241 seconds slower than his teammates.
