Erzgebirge: The French are crazy about these Christmas figures from Seiffen

Seiffen (Ore Mountains) – A wooden figure manufacture in the Ore Mountains has been popular for months in France and beyond: the family company founded in 1870 by Markus Füchtner (40) in Seiffen (Saxony). Since she delivered a major order for the world-famous “Disneyland Paris” amusement park, the phone to order has not stoppedll.

Markus Füchtner: “The managers of the 5-star Disneyland hotel had learned that we are the oldest company in the Ore Mountains and that we are the eighth generation to produce nutcrackers, smokers and figurines.

For a millionaire event they ordered 200 pairs of figures from us, which were supposed to be a French adaptation of our typical miners and angels. “

Füchtner’s partner and head of design Carola Seifert (40) then designed the 27 and 29 cm tall figures “Madame & Monsieur”.

In days of work, they are artfully turned from 15 or 20 parts, painstakingly painted and firmly glued.

“A Swiss hotel guest even posted our exclusive couple on Facebook. That triggered a veritable order avalanche, ”reveals Markus Füchtner.

The rush of buyers makes the small company (five employees) on the mountain ridge work up a sweat.

Carola Seifert: “Even if we work a lot of overtime, many customers will have to wait until 2022 to hold their 200-euro pair of Madame & Monsieur in their hands.”
