Düsseldorf: Airport train station is to become a vaccination center

Düsseldorf – What to do with the corona vaccination center for Düsseldorf? According to BILD information, it looks like the airport train station will be used for this.

The building was used to care for 40,000 people during the 2015 refugee crisis.

An airport spokesman said that the airport station “meets all the essential requirements for a vaccination center, not least thanks to its direct connection to all modes of transport and its infrastructural properties”.

In addition, positive experience with the health authorities had already been gained when setting up the Covid-19 test center at the airport.

Other vaccination centers under discussion: the arena, the ISS dome, the trade fair.

16,000 volunteers are available as helpers from the ranks of the German Red Cross (Landesverband Nordrhein) alone.

The Düsseldorf logistics company Biotech & Pharma Logistics offers help with the transport of the possible vaccine, which is stored at minus 70 degrees. Chef Nils Krämer (42): “Our dry ice boxes fit up to 1000 vaccine doses.” The vaccine can be stored in ultra-low freezers on site.
