Delmenhorst – In the small town near Bremen in Lower Saxony, the corona situation has worsened in recent days.
According to the city’s website, the value of the new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days is 196.3 and thus well above the warning value of 50.
Due to the increasing number of new infections, Delmenhorst canceled all church services and sporting events on Sunday. In addition, Delmenhorst’s Lord Mayor Axel Jahnz (63, SPD) addressed the residents with an appeal via the website.
It says: Delmenhorst “unfortunately currently has the highest corona infection rate in Germany. Together we must therefore do everything possible to protect each other and to prevent further diseases as far as possible. “
And further: “I therefore appeal to you: Please keep a minimum distance of 1.50 meters from other people. Please avoid contact with other households if possible. Only meet relatives and acquaintances for important reasons, for example for help or care. Please avoid celebrations and other gatherings with other people who do not live with you in the same house. “
The corona numbers are also increasing in other parts of Lower Saxony. The value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week is now almost 35. In seven regions it is over 50 and thus they are so-called risk areas – including the districts of Cloppenburg, Emsland and Vechta.
Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) announced that the corona rules will be tightened further. Among other things, he wants to reduce a curfew for restaurants and the number of participants at private parties.
