World Telecommunication Day is celebrated every year on May 17 in the world. Its purpose is to highlight the role of information and communication technology at the present time. History and importance of World Telecommunication Day
World Telecommunication Day was celebrated for the first time in 1969 and the United Nations General Assembly declared May 17 as World Information Society Day (WISD) in 2005. In 2006, at a conference in Antalya, Turkey, the ITU decided to celebrate World Telecommunication and Society Day (WTISD) jointly.
