Between February 1 and February 28, 335 complaint reports were received and “action” was taken on 21 accounts. Of the total reports received, 194 were related to ban appeals, while others were in the categories of account support, product support and safety.
The report states, “We respond to all complaints received, except in cases where a complaint is deemed to be a duplicate of a previous ticket. An account is ‘actioned’ when an account is banned Or as a result of the complaint, an already banned account is reinstated.’
According to the report, 14.26 lakh Indian accounts were banned by WhatsApp in February. An Indian account is identified through +91 phone number.
“This user-safety report includes details of user complaints received and related actions taken by WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp’s own preventive actions to combat abuse on our platform. As recorded in the new monthly report, WhatsApp has banned more than 14 lakh accounts.
