What drops for my eyes?

Cleansing solutions, antiseptic or antiallergic eye drops, tear substitutes: a wide range of products can relieve eye irritation and dryness.

Eye wash solutions

Physiological serum or eyewash solutions (Borax, Dacryoserum, Dacudoses, etc.) calm irritation and superficial inflammation.

The right use

From 1 to 3 eye washes per day.

The right use

One drop, 3 or 4 times a day.

The inconvenients

Do not use for prolonged periods without medical advice.

Antiallergic eye drops

Eye drops based on antiallergic compounds (Ophtacalm, Opticron, Humex allergic conjunctivitis, Multicrom, Allergocomod, etc.) are available without a prescription to relieve the tingling and itching characteristic of allergic conjunctivitis.

The right use

One drop, 2 to 6 times a day for 7 days.

Already diagnosed allergic conjunctivitis can be treated with self-medication.

If symptoms persist or are associated with rhinitis, medical advice is required.

The inconvenients

Instillation can cause transient visual discomfort, burning sensation, very rarely an allergic reaction.

artificial tears

Many products (Ducilarmes, Unilarm, Celluvisc, Lacryfluid, etc.) relieve dry eyes. The latter is manifested by redness, tingling, a grain of sand sensation or, paradoxically, watery eyes.

The right use

Tear replacement solutions and gels are to be used on demand, several times a day, as soon as the sensation of irritation reappears.

Prefer products without preservatives.

Make sure the eyes are well lubricated when traveling by plane, in air-conditioned spaces or in case of prolonged exposure to screens.

The inconvenients

When applying the most viscous products, a visual blurring effect can be felt, it disappears in a few minutes.

> Wind, sun, smoke, dust, pollution, chlorine from swimming pools or screen work can cause eye irritation.

> The eye is also sensitive to pollens and microbes, which cause allergic, viral or bacterial conjunctivitis.

When to consult?

> In case of pain or decreased vision or a sensation of flashes or halos.
