Düsseldorf – The spectacular blockade of the A3 near Ratingen (North Rhine-Westphalia) by a wedding party in March 2019 has consequences in court: The groom and six other men have been charged.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the seven men (27-38) are accused of coercion. One of the participants is also said to have violated the weapons law. According to the prosecution, he shot a pistol in the air. Another wedding guest was driving without a license.
As the investigation showed, the men had blocked all lanes and the hard shoulder with three luxury cars and one medium-sized car. A fifth car was placed across the lane, a sixth spun in circles on the freeway and burned a lap into the asphalt.
The “mother of all wedding parades”, as investigators christened the incident on the A3, resulted in a number of similar incidents.
