Bad Neuenahr – A little bit of hope for the children from the disaster area!
Many families in the Ahr Valley (Rhineland-Palatinate) lost everything in the flood of the century in July, with more than 180 dead and countless houses destroyed. Terrible: Some of the parents don’t even have the money to buy their children a Christmas present now!
That shouldn’t be, said Mandy from Mainz (49), Simone from Walporzheim (56) and Alina (23) from Saarbrücken. The women had met while cleaning up and became friends. For the trio it was clear: “We wanted to help give people a nice Christmas,” said Simone.
Your wonderful idea: a tree of wishes! In her garden, Simone set up a fir tree, on the branches of which children could hang little letters with Christmas wishes – after all, there were more than 80.
Then the three angels from the Ahr valley started! “With the help of a Facebook page, we found sponsors across Germany who would get the gifts,” says helper Simone. The women loaded the parcels into a festively decorated van and set off on a tour through the Ahr Valley.
One stop led them to the Greifenhagen family in Bad Neuenahr. Daughter Marie (5) had written a letter.
Wish? Streeeng secret! Mother Nicole (37) and father Malte (39): “The little one is really happy. After the flood we were housed in an emergency shelter and have been home for two months. “
Gift angel Simone after her last trip: “The children had tears in their eyes. The reactions were wonderful. “
