Rotenburg (Lower Saxony) – One day after the terrible tragedy in which a 4-year-old boy drowned, the child’s mother was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. There is an urgent suspicion of manslaughter against them.
At around 1 a.m. on Friday morning, divers recovered the body of a four-year-old boy from the Wümme. Some of the crisis-tested rescuers burst into tears at the heartbreaking sight.
Just a few hours earlier, the mother and son were still in a clinic where the child was being treated. Only when the two disappeared without a trace in the evening, the staff raised the alarm and triggered a large manhunt.
Minutes later, patrol officers discovered the 40-year-old in the city. There was no trace of the child. It was only when the woman was questioned that a terrible suspicion arose.
Around 10.30 p.m. the fire brigade and DRLG began to search the river with boats. They found the child only after two hours. Down the river, one kilometer from the alleged crime scene, dead.
It is still unclear whether the 40-year-old actually has something to do with the death of her son. There is nothing new in the case, a spokesman for the Verden public prosecutor said on Saturday.
