Actually, this case is related to the alleged fraud of Rs 1.75 lakh by luring to buy a car through Facebook advertisement in 2020. Acting on the complaint of the victim, the cyber cell started investigation and found that the number used by the fraudsters to cheat was obtained through a fake identity card.

Sudhir Agrawal, Superintendent of Police, Gwalior Cyber ​​Zone, said that later 8 people were found involved in issuing this SIM card. Cyber ​​police came to know that fraudsters have used 20,000 different numbers to dupe people using these SIM cards. He said that after investigation, the cyber unit had issued notices to telecom companies like Vodafone-Idea, Airtel and BSNL for verification of these numbers.

Acting swiftly on the notice, Vodafone-Idea after investigation blocked 7,948 SIM cards, the official said. He said that this is probably the first time in the country that a telecom company has blocked so many numbers at once. In such a situation, you are advised to always buy a SIM card on your original ID card.
