Vietnamese farmers add skills when cooperating with Dutch Lady


Waking up before the sun is the job of the dairy farmers. Every day, at 4:00 am, the milk cows’ feeding troughs are full of freshly cut green grass. The cow chews the delicious grass, then is talked and cared about like a baby by the hand of the farm owner.

The farmer is compared to an artist, because the work of taking care of the dairy cow is also an art – where they put all their feelings and emotions. Most of all, each of them has a solid background, rich experience and the support from the Dutch Lady (FrieslandCampina’s) peasant family model, which has been around for 150 years.

Ms. Ingrid Mol – Research and Development Director of FrieslandCampina said that each year, milk production in Vietnam increases but still does not meet demand. Therefore, many businesses have invested in developing their own material areas in order to improve production capacity and cover the market.

In that wave, this 150-year-old dairy group remained loyal to its own path following the model of a big peasant family. Since 2014, the group has strengthened its philosophy of empowering farmers by developing raw material areas in Ha Nam in the form of cooperation with farmers, forming family farms with a scale of 50-80 cows. each camp.

It was this practice that created the power of the Dutch Lady. Because when empowered, the farmer will put his heart into every job he does. When cows are best cared for not only by experience but also by love, safe and pure milk flows will be produced.

The formula makes the pure and safe milk flow

The farm of more than 1 hectare of Mr. Truong – Mrs. Ai, a family of 2 generations raising dairy cows in Don Duong, Lam Dong is special because of her beauty, gentleness and positive energy. This land is the home of 30 cows, harvesting 280 kg of standard raw fresh milk every day. This is the result of the big farmer family model and the Dutch standard breeding process that you and many other farmers have benefited from the Dairy Development Program.

According to Dutch standards, barns are built according to standards with an area of ​​6-10 m2 for each cow, ensuring freedom of movement. The barn is always well ventilated, with enough food and water and cooling system. A cow is milked twice a day, 12 hours apart. The milking also complies with the strict requirements of time, hygiene, milking space, the milking person … to minimize the change because it affects the quality and quantity of the cow’s milk.

Fresh milk is stored in a dedicated aluminum can and transported in just 20 minutes to the central cooling point. Here, the staff of the Dutch Lady performs acceptance tests, takes and saves milk samples to check the quality as well as access when necessary …

Strict control from production to purchasing to ensure that the average count of total contaminants in Dutch Lady’s raw milk is always below 260,000 CFU / ml – 11 times lower than the standard. allowed in Vietnam.
