On November 2, a 20-year-old convicted ISIS terrorist killed four people and injured more than 20 others in Vienna. Now investigators have arrested a possible accomplice.
The Vienna public prosecutor’s office confirmed on Saturday that a 21-year-old was arrested the day before in the Austrian capital. The man is being investigated for aiding and abetting. The investigators are therefore still checking whether the suspect was involved in the preparations for the attack or only knew about it.
First the “Kronen Zeitung” reported about the arrest. The suspect is said to be a 21-year-old Austrian with Egyptian roots. He was arrested at his parents’ apartment in a suburb of Vienna.
In the weeks after the attack, investigators had already arrested nine possible helpers of the assassin, who have been in custody since then.
The main culprit was an Austrian with a North Macedonian second passport. The ISIS terrorist was armed with an assault rifle, a pistol and a machete. He was shot dead by the police.
