Tribsees (Mecklenburg-West Pomerania) – Because of a protest by activists on a bridge in Tribsees, the A20 was provisionally closed in both directions on Sunday.
In the early afternoon, two activists abseiled down the highway bridge. According to the “Action Group Bahnhof Tribsees”, a loose association of initiatives from art and environmental protection in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, two other activists were later to rappel down.
The campaign is intended to draw attention to a turnaround in traffic and rail expansion. The participants demand, among other things, a freeze on construction of new motorways and the dismantling of existing routes.
“This is a registered meeting that should have taken place at the end of January,” said a police spokesman.
A similar but unannounced action had taken place the day before in Schleswig-Holstein on the A1. The protest was also directed against traffic policy, against the construction of motorways and against a local construction project.
