Gera / Neustadt an der Orla (Thuringia) – According to his own statements, the presiding judge Uwe Tonndorf had never before tried such a massive case of domestic violence in 15 years …
On Wednesday, Patrick K. (43) was sentenced to eight years in prison in two cases at the Gera Regional Court for dangerous bodily harm. Again and again, the carpenter is said to have intimidated his girlfriend Katrin S. († 32) with kicks and blows so that she becomes a slave to him. The scene of the crime: the woman’s apartment in Neustadt / Orla.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, Patrick K. even picked up an ax on December 16, 2019 and hit the freight forwarder several times on her arms, severing her tendons. He threw her head several times against a block of wood. The woman survived the attack, but the horror continued.
On the night of June 25, 2020, Patrick K. is said to have beaten Katrin S., especially on the chest and head. He did not provide any help and this time the victim did not survive the attack.
Judge Tonndorf: “In the end this is the sad climax of a year and a half of a violent relationship.”
The judge accused the man of having acted with great brutality and of being jointly responsible for the death of the woman.
However, the district court did not consider it proven that he had killed or intended to kill his girlfriend by beating her head and her entire body in June 2020.
