The Christmas bonus paid from December 15 to 2.5 million low-income households

The Christmas bonus, which has remained unchanged for 11 years, will be paid on December 15 and 16 to “2.5 million low-income households”, announced the Ministry of Solidarity, this Monday, December 7.

Set up by the government of Lionel Jospin in 1998, this aid is granted to beneficiaries of certain social minima, such as the active solidarity income (RSA), the specific solidarity allowance (ASS) and the retirement equivalent allowance (AER ), the ministry said in a statement.

This “Boost for the most fragile households before the end of the year holidays” will be paid on December 15 for RSA beneficiaries and December 16 for other beneficiaries.he “Reflects the government’s commitment to support the purchasing power of households with modest incomes, a fortiori in the context of the health and social crisis induced by the Covid-19 epidemic”, stressed the ministry.

A premium paid automatically

The premium will be paid automatically by the family allowance or agricultural social insurance funds, without the beneficiaries having to take any action.

As since 2009, the amount of the Christmas bonus will be:

152.45 euros for a single person,

228.67 euros for a two-person household (couple without children, single adult with one child),

274.41 euros for three people (couple with one child, single adult with two children).

From four people, the amount of the premium is higher for a single-parent household (335.39 euros) than for a couple with two children (320.14 euros) and the premium is supplemented by 60.98 euros per additional child .

This bonus comes in addition to two exceptional emergency aid, granted this year in May and then in November to the poorest households, to help them cope with the consequences of the health crisis. This aid had reached 150 euros for beneficiaries of RSA and ASS (long-term unemployed), plus 100 euros per dependent child, also granted to beneficiaries of housing aid.
