HanoiMany people are willing to spend money to have their pets beautified at spa shops and high-end hotels.
At the end of September, Nguyen Tu An, 29 years old, in Tay Ho district let his dog experience the high-class “Luxury Pet Spa & Hotel” service at a store on Lac Long Quan Street, Tay Ho District. The first time coming to the shop, Cua, a 15-kg Golden breed dog of An, was carefully checked for skin and coat problems to choose a suitable, non-irritating shower gel.
Cua’s spa session lasted nearly an hour with 6 steps: clean bath; skin treatment; hair color conditioner; hair softener discharge; fur incubation; Spray perfume and hair conditioner. Before that, the dog had its ears cleaned, nails trimmed and sweat glands squeezed. After a week, Crab’s coat is still shiny, making An satisfied.
According to An, Crab is a large dog breed, it is difficult to bathe and clean at home without specialized equipment. Sometimes the skin also has red symptoms that make first-time dog owners like her wonder, not knowing whether to self-treat or go to a doctor. But An’s worries were quickly supported by the staff at the spa. With common itch, she was advised to just apply medicine, and with strange symptoms, the staff would proactively remind the owner to take the dog to the doctor. “The way to take care of pets and customers is very thorough and dedicated,” An said.
About 4-5 years ago, many families with good conditions began to pay attention to pet care and accommodation services. They are willing to spend large sums of money to take them to expensive beauty salons. Or send to hotel areas to stay when unattended or when traveling.
Ms. Tran Ha Thu, 35 years old, manager of a dog and cat care shop in Tay Ho district, said the store was established in 2020, with two locations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The facility in Hanoi consists of three floors with four employees. Area on the first floor for health checks, bathing, cleaning, drying and trimming and a four-season swimming pool for pets. The second floor is a waiting room for guests. The third floor is a hotel area for accommodation and a playroom for pets.
Pets coming to the salon can use all shower gels imported from France. Each bottle of 250 ml shower gel with an average price of 400,000 VND has the effect of cleaning, deodorizing, antibacterial, removing dead cells, making the coat durable and soft.
Currently, the price for bathing and cleaning pets at the store ranges from VND 250,000 to VND 500,000; bathing, cleaning and styling from 400,000 VND to 700,000 VND. Separate hotel service for pets based on needs. Sending in less than five hours costs from 100,000 VND to 250,000 VND; all day from 150,000 VND to 430,000 VND; send overnight from 200,000 VND to 580,000 VND, depending on the weight of the pet. The accommodation fee includes three meals, health monitoring, toileting, play or outdoor walking.
Like An, she has to pay about 400,000 VND per week for each crab’s bath, which costs 1.2 million VND a month. “Expensive but worth it”, the 29-year-old girl said when the dog is always clean, the hair is not sticky like when bathing at home.
The number of people who spend money on pets like An is not small. Every day, Thu’s Hanoi facility receives an average of 5 to 7 animals, especially at weekends the number of animals doubles. On average, 150-200 pets are served each month for bathing, cleaning and trimming. The peak times are usually on holidays, New Year, summer vacation, guests who want to bring their pets to beauty salon or stay must book in advance.
Compared to the common ground, the cost of pet care and accommodation at Thu’s store is slightly higher. Explaining this, the female manager said that the store wants to target a group of customers with a good income, hoping to bring the best experience. “When I introduced the separate imported shower gel line with the accompanying incentives, most customers were satisfied and chose for the next time,” she said.
Many pet owners who open spa services for pets say that the trend of “pet humanisation” in Vietnam is increasingly flourishing. Owners treat pets like children, creating a diet, lifestyle and special care services. That is also the reason why spa facilities and high-end pet shelters are still welcome.
Last month, Anh Thu, 27 years old, in Cau Giay district also brought two Poodle-like dogs to a familiar shop on Xa Dan street, Dong Da district to have their hair trimmed. She believes that animals, just like people, need to be beautified and receive the best care services if their owners can afford it.
“If you have accepted to adopt imported dogs and cats, it is necessary to spend money and time to take them to take care of them,” said Thu, who has just spent 700,000 VND to take two dogs to have their hair trimmed on November 8. .
After the distance, the number of customers sending their pets to Thu’s salon for bathing and trimming increased. “I think this service will become more and more popular as more and more people keep their pets from abroad. They consider them as a family member and don’t mind spending a large amount of money to take care of and beautify them.” she says.
