Set up desks and bookshelves according to feng shui

Setting up desks and bookshelves in accordance with feng shui principles and in accordance with actual conditions contribute to improving learning outcomes and maintaining health.

There are two different views in the layout of the reading room, the workplace. The ancient feng shuiists focused on choosing the direction of the reading room, office (library room). Specifically, the library should be located in the South or Southeast direction of the house or room. Tables and chairs and bookshelves should also be placed in the corresponding position or in a convenient location for readers.

Many modern feng shui researchers believe that this view comes from the fact that the ancients had conditions to choose. In the context of a large land with sparse people, the “literate” class in society is mainly feudal intellectuals and Confucian scholars, anyone can choose the South direction to arrange a reading room.

The reality is not quite so. At that time, some feng shui schools, artists (poets, calligraphers, painters) and religious followers paid attention to every detail in the layout of the reading room, especially the placement of tables and chairs. , bookshelf, pen… Even many mandarins and religious dignitaries of the Song Dynasty in China also arranged paper, ink, pen tubes, seals in different positions depending on the working day or hour.

In the Qing Dynasty, after Ung Chinh and Qian Long had screened, researched, adjusted, and recompiled the entire system of bibliography related to the sand, fortune-telling, and feng shui, the two schools were combined with together into a system of common principles on the arrangement of rooms, placing tables and chairs and bookshelves in the reading room.

According to feng shui, the reading room and the office arranged in any direction must adhere to the principle of “cavalry”, that is, set up the table so that the person sitting, working, reading or writing does not have their back to the door, including: both the main door and the window. Accordingly, in order to achieve high efficiency in studying and working, it is necessary to pay attention to the arrangement of tables, chairs, and bookshelves according to the following principles:

Reading rooms, working rooms arranged in any direction must comply with the principle of “causal discipline”, that is, set up tables so that people sitting, working, reading or writing do not have their backs to the door, including the main door and the front door. Windows.

In case the table is facing directly to the door, the distance from the main door (or window) to the nearest edge of the table must be greater than 3 m. The space from the door to the desk to study and work should be placed on a drinking table or a potted plant to neutralize murderous gas.

Reading and working tables should not be placed directly under beams, beams or ceiling lights to help readers focus more, and at the same time reduce fatigue, headaches and dizziness.

If there is no table lamp, use a ceiling or wall lamp, the reading table must be positioned so that the lamp is not perpendicular to the area of the top of the head, shoulders and nape of the reader. Similarly, the desk should not be placed directly under and perpendicular to the ceiling fan or air conditioner.

This taboo often causes people to sit and read with shoulder pain and neck pain, wake up tired, and face pale. Over time, they will suffer from neurological diseases and typhoid.

Do not place a desk or a working seat right at the door. The door of the reading room should open at a certain angle, limiting opening the middle door. Windows and glass doors can be used to get light, but must ensure that people sitting and reading or working can’t see the scenery outside.

On the desk, books can be displayed on both the left and right sides of the person reading, especially the pen tube must be placed on the left and right hand side higher than other objects on the right.

Brushes and drawing pens inserted in the pen tube must spread like a flower, not bunched up like a spear; Or use a stand to hang the nib facing down.

Ink, ink bottle, seal… placed on the right hand of the person sitting and working, arranged in order from high to low, from inside to outside.

Bookshelves can be placed on all 3 sides, in front of, on the right or left of the reading table. But if conditions permit, it is best to put the bookshelf on the left hand side of the person reading.

Do not place bookshelves behind the person reading. If for some reason you have to put a bookshelf behind your back, you must ensure the safety and security of the shelf and the books displayed on it.

Rooms dedicated to reading, composing, and classrooms for children in the family, in addition to complying with the above principles, are best arranged flexibly, and the position of tables and chairs can be changed annually…

Feng shui Huyen Khong has experienced reality and attaches great importance to placing the study table in the position of the star Van Khuc – the master of literature, wisdom, and mandarin. The Office of Literature is in the Southeast direction, but every year it saves and governs one of the 9 celestial tables, so it is possible to set up a study table according to the zodiacal position of the star.

If the sitting position is not changed according to the orbit of the star Van Khuc, when placing the study table or desk in the directions that correspond to the Van Khuc: East, Southeast, South or North.

In the next 10 years, the Van Khuc star will in turn reside in the following signs (directions): 2022 in the Southeast, 2023 in the Middle, 2024 in the Northwest, 2025 in the West, 2026 in the East North, 2027 in the South, 2028 in the North, 2029 in the Southwest, 2030 in the East, 2031 in the Southeast.
