About SABATON and the new album “The War To End All Wars”
The members of SABATON have a lot in common, but perhaps the most important thing in common is their shared desire to be storytellers. SABATON are known for their high-intensity Heavy Metal combined with narrative.
The focus is on harrowing yet epic stories about real military battles and the brave men and women who lived through them.
Written and recorded between Spring 2020 and Spring 2021, the band has created a concept album featuring 11 brand new songs that once again delve deep into the atrocities, wonders and events associated with World War I in the early 20th century.
According to vocalist Joakim Brodén, there were still stories related to World War I that went untold on the band’s 2019 release, The Great War. “In some cases,” he explains, “we just didn’t have the right music and there were certain stories we wanted to tell, like ‘The Christmas Truce’ and ‘Hellfighters.’ When we went on tour with ‘The Great War’ we met so many fans who told us about other great WWI stories that we had never heard before, stories that were just so good we always asked again: How could we miss that?”
In the more than two decades that have passed since the band’s formation, SABATON have headlined major festivals and sold-out arena concerts around the world. In the process, they’ve garnered a loyal following by earning a reputation as one of the hardest working bands in the business.
Since SABATON’s debut album in 2005, the band has released nine studio albums, most of which have been certified GOLD, PLATINUM and even QUADRUPLE PLATINUM. Eight of their albums reached the top 10 of the international charts, six even the top 5.
The band has received eight nominations at the Metal Hammer/Golden Gods Awards, taking home Breakthrough Artist in 2011 and Best Live Band in three separate years. The band also received a Grammis nomination (the Swedish equivalent of the US GRAMMY) for Best Heavy Metal Band.
SABATON has also accumulated more than two billion streams across all streaming platforms.
