Many Vietnamese people want an independent old age


Vietnam is one of the countries with fast aging population. Facing this situation, Prudential Vietnam Insurance Company Limited cooperated with Kantar Vietnam market research company to conduct a survey on “Independent life in old age”. The theme is to reflect the concerns, willingness and confidence of Vietnamese people to live in old age.

The survey was conducted on 500 people, aged 30-45, living in HCMC and Hanoi, based on three aspects: physical health, mental health, and finance. The results show that 85% of Vietnamese people want to have an independent life in their old age, physical health is the top concern (59%) in the old age of the Vietnamese, followed by sperm health. God (30%), finance (11%).

The survey also shows that only 4 out of 10 Vietnamese people plan and act for their old life. Vietnamese women are better off planning their life in old age than men, with 75% of women reporting that they have a plan for old age, compared to only 59% of men. The main reasons for those who do not have a plan for the old life are family responsibilities (51%) and unstable finances (44%).

Vietnamese people tend to start planning for their old life when they turn 40. This is also the average age that Vietnamese people think they need to start preparing for all three aspects: physical health , mentally, financially.

Although the Vietnamese people’s readiness for life in old age is quite high, over 70%, the level of confidence in meeting their expectations is only about 40%. Married people are more willing and confident in their old life than the single group.
