Magdeburg on the lookout for a trainer – who does this bank?

A lot to do this week for Magdeburg’s sports director Otmar Schork (63)! After the resignation of Thomas Hoßmang (54) as coach, he is really challenged for the first time since taking office in November.

The task: Schork has to find a football teacher who is able to save the traditional club from relegation to the regional league and at the same time build a new, competitive team with him.

But who does the job on the FCM bank anyway? There are unshakable candidates! One is Daniel Stendel (46). According to BILD information, the ex-professional from Hannover 96 has already been offered to the FCM and would be an exciting solution.

For Lower Saxony, he not only gained Bundesliga experience in 2016, but also worked on the island for the past two years at the traditional Scottish club Heart of Midlothian and the English second division club Barnsley.

Schork looking for a coach! If many FCM fans have their way, the choice should fall on Torsten Lieberknecht (47). Until November he worked at league competitor Duisburg. Torsten Ziegner (43) would be possible, but also explosive! The ex-HFC coach was already on the list at FCM in 2020 when Hoßmang wobbled for the first time.

Or is there a déjà vu? With Sören Osterland (35), the third division team has a real talent for coaching in their own ranks. Last summer he inherited from Hoßmang as head of the youth training center. Is he following him again now?

One thing is certain: Schork only has one attempt. As a former claims adjuster at an insurance company, however, he should know how to clean up chaos …
