Leipzig – Thick clouds of smoke moved over Leipzig on Saturday afternoon and could be seen from Lake Cospuden to the city center.

“The owner of a barn wanted to destroy weeds on his property with a burner at noon,” said police spokesman Chris Graupner to BILD.
The barn caught fire first
With fatal consequences: the building caught fire and spread to an adjacent residential building that was being renovated. Both buildings were on fire. According to the police, the extinguishing work will take several hours.
Luckily no one was injured in the blaze. Both buildings were completely destroyed. The damage is likely to amount to tens of thousands of euros.
Police spokesman Graupner: “We are investigating negligent arson.”
