Italy: raid on militant opponents of the Corona Pass

They call themselves “the warriors” and have already discussed explosives …

In several Italian cities, the police searched the homes and computers of allegedly militant opponents of the Corona measures on Thursday.

According to police reports, the suspects called for violent actions against unspecified “institutional targets” in their respective home regions on the Telegram messenger service under the title “The Warriors”. They are also said to have discussed the use of weapons and self-made explosives!

The group also called for participation in demonstrations against the green Corona pass in Italy – including this coming weekend in Rome. The searches were carried out in Milan, Rome, Venice, Padua, Bergamo and Reggio nell’Emilia.

The green passport shows whether someone has been vaccinated against the coronavirus, has a negative test result or has recovered. Everyone in Italy who wants to eat inside restaurants or use trains and buses needs the pass. Teachers also need the Corona pass.

The pass is the latest attempt to bring the pandemic under control. Its introduction has already sparked small and occasionally violent protests.

In Italy, almost 130,000 people have died from the virus since February 2020. More than 39 million Italians – almost 73 percent of the population over the age of twelve – are fully vaccinated.
