The tragic end of a happy birthday party in Porter, Texas …
A boy only three years old suffered serious gunshot wounds this Saturday, from which he died shortly afterwards.
What exactly happened? It’s the boy’s third birthday. Family and friends are guests, the atmosphere is exuberant, the adults begin to play cards – when they suddenly hear a shot.
They discover the three-year-old with a gunshot wound in the chest that he inflicted on himself. Apparently, he found the gun after it fell out of a family member’s pocket.
The child succumbed to his injury shortly after the incident on Saturday. “Our thoughts and prayers are with family and friends in the face of this tragic accident,” the police said.
The United States ranks first among rich industrial countries in terms of gun ownership per capita. Around 30 percent of all Americans own a firearm and around 40 percent live in a household with a rifle or a pistol.
While you are only allowed to own firearms in Germany if you are a hunter, athlete or gun collector, self-defense is sufficient as a reason in the USA. The right to own and carry weapons dates back to the early days of the United States and was formulated in the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1791.
