Instagram is reportedly removing a feature from its app. According to a report, the photo and video sharing app is closing a shorter time limit and encouraging users to update their settings. Earlier, Instagram users were able to select a time frame of as little as five minutes in a day. However, the new time frame starts at 30 minutes and lasts up to three hours.
According to an Instagram screenshot, Instagram shows a pop-up at the top of their feed urging them to set a new time limit. It is also mentioned in the pop-up that users can retain their old limit if they want. On the other hand, if users want to change the limit, they have to click on the edit button and direct them to choose a preset option.
The shortest option available in the app is 30 minutes. The report also states that an additional popup on the app mentions that it no longer supports the 10 minute time value. The report further states that the app is also sending out reminders to users to change the setting for a few weeks.
Instagram introduced the facility to set a daily time limit in 2018. This feature enables users to track how much time is spent on the app. Earlier this month, Instagram introduced a new feature called ‘Take a Break’. This feature helps people make informed decisions about the way they spend their time.
