Kyiv/Dusseldorf – It was a secret night action that brought her to Düsseldorf – now German doctors are fighting for the life of Irina (35) from Kyiv!
The mother of three was walking down a street in the besieged city last Saturday when one of Putin’s rockets landed next to her. The explosion shattered the left side of her face. Kyiv on Tuesday in the early hours of the morning: a convoy is moving at a clinic. Several escort vehicles and an ambulance – Irina is in it. An emergency doctor and her father (62) are with her.
Irina’s husband had organized the transport to Germany through friends. He is a member of parliament for the party of Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko (50) and was born in Crimea. The family had to flee from there in 2014 when Russian soldiers took the peninsula.
The approximately 600-kilometer journey through the war zone lasted more than twelve tense hours. Destination: the border crossing to Poland. Irina and her companions are nervous as they wait in the line of cars for more than an hour. Does the exit work?
