At the Munich Motor Show this week, the vehicle that stars on the massive BMW stand lacks the classic high-end to German hallmarks. The design of the car, ultra-futuristic, is more compact than usual, and the gold-colored aluminum body completely dispenses with paint, leather or chrome. Even the brand’s iconic logo is gone, replaced by a laser-etched pattern.
Oliver Zipse, chairman of the board of directors of the Bavarian manufacturer, quickly reassured aficionados: baptized i vision Circular, this concept car does not prefigure the “Neue Klasse”, the new generation of sedans prepared by BMW. But with a manufacture entirely in recycled materials – and 100% recyclable -, it affirms the course that the group has set in terms of the circular economy by 2040, which is not necessarily expected of a premium brand.
