The times away from home, the constant effort in practice and competition is an experience that helps Quang Minh and Bao Bao – two U11 players – to forge a strong will from sports.
La Quang Minh (born 2012) in Ho Chi Minh City and Nguyen Bao Bao (2011) from Phu Tho are two players who participated in the National Children’s Football Tournament Nestlé Milo Cup 2022 (U11) in Nha Trang recently. These are two of the young players who made their mark thanks to their persistent spirit and efforts to show their skills throughout the tournament.
Since childhood, Bao Bao was quiet but very passionate about football. Supporting their children, Mr. Nguyen Tien Cong and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Nga created conditions for Bao to study with a freelance teacher. In the fourth grade, Bao moved away from his family to live and practice at T&T VSH’s facility in Cua Lo, Nghe An.
Letting your child practice in a professional environment is also how the couple helps Bao gradually become strong, not afraid of challenges, but strive to perfect his skills. In fact, at first, the family thought to support the child to practice football to satisfy his passion. However, when she learned that her child was nurturing the dream of becoming a national player, Nga and her husband supported their children to practice hard to forge their will from sports. “If you want to conquer your goals in the future, you have to try really hard,” Nga often encourages her children.
La Quang Minh is one of the players to receive the title of “Typical Player” at the National Children’s Football Tournament Nestlé Milo Cup 2022. Anh Vu Truong Chinh, head coach of Navy Phu Nhuan team, who has accompanied Minh more 4 years said: “Minh deserves this title thanks to her efforts and will to practice for the past 4 years. She always perseveres to overcome obstacles from exercises and tournaments. Her family is also very supportive, always create conditions for children to develop their passions”.
Hang Nga, her mother, said that during practice and competition, Quang Minh had many injuries on the pitch. Although she was very sorry for her son, when she confirmed that she was okay, I felt confident about the will she had forged from sports. “I know he’s tired, sometimes falling on the field and walking out is still very painful, but I still have to be strong to motivate him to regain his competitive spirit.” She also feels happy when compared to her age, Quang Minh is quite independent, mature, knows how to set goals and persistently conquers her dream of following professional football in the future.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam, Sports are a practical environment for children to practice perseverance. The time when children encounter obstacles in sports is a great opportunity for parents to train their children’s will, it is important to accompany them in the right way. At this point, the most effective way is to work with your child towards the valuable experiences he has gained from sports, instead of thinking that he cannot overcome obstacles.
“Motivating and supporting children to exercise their will with the hobby found from sports is what parents should do,” the expert advises. Parents, please create conditions for children to explore a variety of sports, listen to their wishes to make a specific route to conquer each goal. This is an important skill that children desperately need to have their parents by their side to make the journey of forging willpower from sports more effective.
The last factor is also quite important, adequate and timely nutrition to improve physical strength, help children stay active and healthy. “To have a good physical foundation, besides genetic factors, scientific nutrition and reasonable exercise and sports are the essential factors, because a strong will will be nurtured more effectively. in a healthy body,” said Associate Professor Tran Thanh Nam.
