After the storm is before the storm …
On Thursday (March 11th) and on Friday night, “Klaus” caused a great stir and occasional damage. And the breather is only short: on Saturday it will continue with storm “Luis”.
“It hits the middle and the west in particular,” says meteorologist Dominik Jung from the Q.met weather service. Gusts around 100 km / h are possible in the lowlands. “At high altitudes, such as on the Feldberg in the Black Forest, we also expect gusts of up to 150 or 160 km / h.”
And for now we have to keep shivering – and wait for the spring fever: In the coming week, says Jung, it will initially remain cool and cold. There can even be frost at night and snow or sleet at high altitudes.
Reason: A high that is on the Atlantic off France does not come to us. “Instead, the way is clear for cold air masses from Russia and Siberia,” says Jung.
The German weather service DWD also gives us little hope for the weekend and sunshine: On Friday afternoon there are still a few showers and a few brief thunderstorms in the northwest and west. The maximum values are between seven and 13 degrees.
Heavy rain showers are expected there in the evening and heavy gusts of wind cannot be ruled out.
On Saturday a storm low followed with rain, the temperatures reached a maximum of ten degrees. In the night on Sunday the rain moves from west to east, in the mountains up to the middle layers as snow. Cooling to five to zero degrees, above about 500 meters light frost.
