Erfurt – The numbers are frightening! Nowhere in Germany is such a high proportion of intensive care beds occupied by corona patients as in Thuringia.
On Monday it was 21.2 percent – more than every fifth bed (medical association Divi). Accordingly, the number of corona intensive care patients increased by 17 to 133 compared to the previous day – only 22 special Covid intensive care beds were still free. Nationwide, 87.2 percent of intensive care beds were occupied.
At the same time, the number of new infections continues to rise! The seven-day incidence yesterday was 427.5. After Saxony (491.3), Thuringia was the state with the second highest value.
The Sonneberg district was particularly affected. Incidence here: 823.9!
At the beginning of the class, many parents protested against the stricter rules. In some schools there are angry letters were received, according to the Ministry of Education. The mood is tense.
The Diakoniestiftung Weimar Bad Lobenstein has meanwhile confirmed to BILD a corona outbreak in the Martin-Luther-Haus senior care home in Erfurt. Eight residents and five employees have therefore tested positive in the past few days.
“One resident tested positive on November 1st, after which a swab was taken from all residents and employees of the house,” says facility manager Markus Karl.
But daily corona tests showed that more and more people were infected in the affected living area.
Three of the 68 residents in the home were treated in the clinic. One resident (76) died there.
