Corona: delivery bottleneck! No new vaccination appointments possible in Saxony

Dresden – For the time being, no new vaccination appointments can be made in Saxony.

“Neither online nor by telephone is an agreement possible from Monday,” said Kai Kranich from the German Red Cross (DRK) on Sunday. The reason for this is the announced delivery bottleneck of the vaccine manufacturer Biontech-Pfizer.

“Unfortunately, we can only give as many appointments as we have vaccine,” explained Kranich. Now you have to wait and see how the situation develops.

So far, around 9,000 vaccination appointments have been made via the online booking portal. These could be secured in the coming week, stressed Kranich. However, due to the lack of a vaccine, no appointments in the vaccination centers could be offered for the week after next.

The telephone hotline was supposed to start assigning appointments on Monday (January 18) – later than planned anyway. So far, the number has only been used to answer questions about vaccination.

However, despite the delivery bottleneck for the corona vaccine, Saxony guarantees revaccination. This applies to people who have already been vaccinated since December 27, as well as to those who already have an appointment for the next few days. Health Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) emphasized this. Saxony has withheld half of the available doses for the second vaccination.
