Côme Girschig: “We are not asking for the blocking of 5G, just transparency”


On December 16, the Paris Tribunal de Grande Instance (TGI) will deliver a judgment that could become an obstacle to the deployment of 5G in France. Seized by the association Procès 5G, a collective which brings together 500 French and Belgian citizens, the judges gathered in “collegial training” will examine the results of a mediation which took place on December 4 between the lawyers of the collective and those of the four operators (Orange, SFR, Bouygues, Free). Confidential mediation… and minimal since it only lasted thirty minutes and did not follow. The association is represented by its founder Côme Girschig, a 25-year-old engineer (Ecoles des Ponts), also a graduate of Sciences-Po, very active on ecological issues (he notably represented France at the first Youth Summit for the climate organized by the UN in September 2019). He explains his approach in an interview with “l’Obs”.

While the deployment of networks has already started and the major operators are highlighting 5G offers for Christmas, can this procedure put everything back on track?
