A mini-gym on four wheels, which moves around the streets independently while you rower: this “transport robot” worthy of a sci-fi movie is one of the three creations presented Wednesday by Citroën to illustrate the potential of its “skate”, an electric and autonomous platform which must serve as a support for the multiple uses that future partners will want to imagine.
Like others, the brand is considering the future of city trips, and the contribution that autonomous vehicles could make. But unlike Tesla or Volkswagen, Citroën does not believe that driving without a driver can find a viable variation on individual cars. At least in the medium term. “Today, given the prohibitive cost of technology, the economic equation does not work,” says Laurence Hansen, director of product and strategy.
