Bitcoin: crypto fraudsters arrested at Frankfurt Airport – custody!

At the last second, the investigators were able to prevent his escape!

Immediately before his flight to South America, the police arrested a Bitcoin fraudster (48) at Frankfurt Airport.

The man from Karlsruhe is said to have cheated more than 50 people with alleged crypto investments, said the police and the public prosecutor’s office in Bamberg, Bavaria, on Tuesday.

Accordingly, the Kryto crook lured his victims between 2017 and 2020 with the prospect of participating in a so-called mining facility for “prospecting” the crypto currency Bitcoin. For this he published advertising videos on YouTube, among other places.

The bona fide victims gave him a total of more than 62 bitcoins, which were worth around 400,000 euros at the time of the crime.

The fraudster then benefited from the huge crypto hype: According to the investigators, the stolen Bitcoins are now worth almost 1.8 million euros.

According to the authorities’ knowledge, the suspect was not planning any investment, but wanted to keep the money for himself from the start.

In the course of ongoing investigations against the man, there were also indications of an imminent escape abroad, whereupon appropriate search measures were initiated.

On Thursday, the wanted man was caught on departure at Frankfurt Airport. The investigators then searched his apartment in Karlsruhe.

He is now in custody. Investigations were also launched against a woman (54) who accompanied him at the airport.
