You bring the pot home!
The FC Bayern basketball team won the final of the DBB Cup in the Audi Dome with 85:79 (41:39) against Alba Berlin.
This is the third time that the Pott is from Munich after 1968 and 2018. Paul Zipser (27), who was the best Munich shooter with 18 points, at Magenta Sport: “It feels extremely awesome that we have rewarded ourselves with the first title.”
Bayern can still get the double. The playoff quarter-finals for the championship against Crailsheim (Best of Five) will begin on Wednesday (8.30 p.m.).
But the trophy was no march through for the Munich team, they trembled into the final. Leon Radošević (31) admits: “It was very, very exhausting.” In the semifinals against Ulm, Munich had to go into extra time twice on Saturday, ultimately winning just 104: 102.
And the final was also an uphill battle. The bleeding wounds of Zan Mark Sisko (22) had to be stapled twice on the edge of the field (arm and lip).
Munich’s Vladimir Lucic was honored as the most valuable player (MVP) of the cup tournament. However, there was no celebration: Manager Marko Pesic (44): “Unfortunately, this is not possible due to Corona.”
Coach Andrea Trinchieri (52) said: “I’ll treat myself to a good bottle of red wine, maybe two – and a cigar.”
