Andi Latte: I want to be a Ballermann star

keel – In the morning he rented an apartment, two rooms, kitchen, bathroom, but he already had the lines in his head that he will belt out into a microphone in the evening in the party room of his house. “Hokus, Pokus, Lokus, drunk again – village children in drinking mode!”

Actually, Timo Szopieray (46) is a serious guy. Real estate agent in Kiel, and when he’s done with that, then father of a family, chairman of the football club TSV Stein and coach of the D-Jugend.

But sometimes it breaks through. Then Szopieray puts on the red horn-rimmed glasses, puts on the training jacket and mutates into “Andi Latte”, party pop singer who now wants to get started at Ballermann. Like Werner Böhm as Gottlieb Wendehals, only really funny.

“The beer wins, the ball is round, the referee is blind.” It all started with these lines, scribbled on a piece of paper at the kitchen table. “I realized that there is no party song for district league footballers,” says Andi Latte. “So I just wrote one.” A video was also shot on the non-game Sunday with his soccer buddies and a few crates of beer, and the first hit was ready: 2.2 million views on Spotify.

Andi played drums, listened to punk rock and “had nothing to do with party hits”. He took singing lessons, “I didn’t tell them what for”. This was followed by the first appearance at the Bierkönig, an après-ski tour with Schäfer Heinrich and Specktakel (“Mama Lauda”) – and Corona.

After the forced break, Andi now wants to “be there when it starts again”. The new song is ready, a flight to Mallorca booked, the first performances too. “Drinking mode,” he promises, can still be chanted at 2 a.m.: “Too much text isn’t good for the industry either…”
