Already on Friday: Augsburg goes into early lockdown | Regional

Augsburg – Bavaria’s third largest city will go into partial lockdown on Friday!

The restrictions will not come into force nationwide until November 2nd. November 2nd is too late for Augsburg, said Mayor Eva Weber (CSU) on Thursday.

Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) had previously announced that the 300,000-inhabitant city in Swabia would prefer the tightening of the corona regulations.

The similarly badly affected Upper Bavarian city of Rosenheim will also go into quasi-lockdown from Friday 9:00 p.m. due to extremely high corona infection numbers.

The two cities as well as the districts of Berchtesgadener Land and Rottal-Inn are currently the municipalities in the Free State most severely affected by new corona infections.

According to the decision of Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the Prime Minister, private contacts will be severely restricted nationwide from Monday, restaurants and leisure facilities will be closed and events prohibited.
