Abuse allegations – Horse track changes name because of Prince Andrew

London – Titles gone, offices gone – and now the horse fun…

In the United States, Prince Andrew faces an abuse lawsuit. And at home in Great Britain it will also be uncomfortable for Queen Elizabeth’s second son (95).

A British racecourse wants to change its name so that it is no longer associated with the disgraced Prince Andrew 861), Duke of York.

The Duke of York Stakes racecourse is to be given a new name in response to abuse allegations against the Duke of York, the racecourse’s marketing director James Brennan told the Yorkshire Post.

The racecourse was named in 1895 after Prince George, later King George V, who was also Duke of York.

“There was never a direct link to Prince Andrew,” Brennan clarified. Now, however, the racecourse wants to make it even clearer that the name is returning to a completely different Duke of York. It could therefore get the name “1895 Duke Of York Stakes”.

Virginia Giuffre (38) accuses the prince of sexually abusing him three times in 2001 when she was only 17 years old – allegations that he vehemently denies. Andrew is said to have had contacts with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein († 66). Epstein “loaned” her to Andrew at the time, Giuffre says. She therefore wants to sue Prince Andrew in a civil trial in New York.

The prince had already given up his royal duties in 2019 and largely withdrew from the public. With the civil trial now approaching, Buckingham Palace has announced that Andrew would be stripped of his military titles and royal patronage.

Andrew will no longer be referred to as “His Royal Highness,” but will retain the title of duke. According to The Yorkshire Post, there are already plans to strip him of that title as well.
