7 ways to deodorize in the microwave


Burnt spilled food, grease on the grill bar or the inside of the oven… can cause unpleasant odors to the appliance.

Here are the ways you can refer to quickly clean the microwave.

Soap and water

The combination of soap and water is the first step to deodorizing the microwave. All you need is some warm water, dish soap and a rag. Remember to unplug the oven before operating.

Usually, if your microwave has a burning smell, it means there is a little grease and food clumps in it. You pour a cup of water into a microwave-safe bowl and heat it up for about four minutes. The steam will help soften things stuck in the oven. Then, you use a cloth to absorb water, soak up the dishwashing soap solution and gently rub the inside.

After cleaning, dry with a towel and leave the oven door ajar for a few hours to remove any lingering odors.

Vinegar

If you smell the oven smell of burnt popcorn or rice, sticky rice, etc. left in the oven, you can use vinegar to clean the oven by removing the rotary plate in the oven, then spraying vinegar on the oven walls and then wiping . You can also mix about a cup of water with a few tablespoons of vinegar and microwave it for a few minutes. When the water has cooled completely, take out the vinegar bowl and wipe the microwave thoroughly to remove any stubborn dirt.

Baking soda

Baking soda is especially useful in case your oven has a lingering odor. Open the lid of the baking soda box and leave the oven overnight. This helps neutralize any lingering odors in the oven, leaving everything smelling like new. You can also mix two tablespoons of baking soda with a cup of water and heat the mixture in the oven for a few minutes to get rid of any odors.

Coffee grounds

Coffee is actually a natural deodorant because it contains nitrogen, which absorbs and neutralizes any unwanted scents. Its properties are often compared to baking soda, but there are some pluses such as a pleasant aroma. You just need to mix 1/2 cup of water with 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds, then put the mixture in the microwave for about 10 minutes. You can stop every two or three minutes to add more water to the mixture if needed.

You can also mix equal parts baking soda and coffee grounds to double the cleaning power of the device.

Vanilla essence

If you like the aroma of warm chocolate chip cookies coming out of the oven then this is a good choice to get rid of any odors in the kitchen.

You pour a few drops of vanilla essence into a small dish. Put this dish in the microwave, turn it for a minute, the aroma will fill the oven. The only downside to this method is that vanilla essence is quite expensive.

Orange peel, tangerine

Nothing has a natural, pleasant aroma like the peel of a freshly squeezed orange, mandarin or lemon. You can take advantage of these to clean the microwave.

You put the peels in a bowl of water, then microwave for a few minutes. Then, you open the oven, use a towel to clean the oven wall. This solution helps to keep the oven clean, with a pleasant scent.

Charcoal

If you have some charcoal, don’t forget to use it to reduce unpleasant odors in the oven. Charcoal is highly absorbent, helping to remove the most stubborn food odors.

Using charcoal is very easy. You take a piece of charcoal, put it in the oven, close it and leave it overnight. The next morning, you clean the oven again.
