Rene Willmer is sitting at his desk, talking about the past few days – and can’t believe it: “I don’t understand why we are greeted with so much hatred.”
He is the first boss in Germany who kicked employees out because they didn’t want a corona vaccination. Seven had to go! Since then, vaccination advocates have celebrated him – but vaccination opponents even send him death threats.
The case: Rene Willmer (45) runs a nursing service with his wife Conny (45) in Dessau-Roßlau. As soon as the vaccination was available for his employees, he urged everyone to take it.
Three employees did not want to be vaccinated under any circumstances, and four others did not want to commit themselves.
The boss held talks with them, distributed information material and gave a lecture in order to convince the vaccination skeptics. In the end, he set a deadline of two days: When they still could not bring themselves to the corona vaccination, he gave them notice.
Willmer on BILD am Sonntag: “The employees behaved disrespectfully. They did not listen to my lecture, shouted in between, shook their heads. One of them even rejected the corona vaccination with the words: ‘I won’t let Bill Gates stick a chip in my arm.’ ”
But one of the dismissed employees tells a completely different story. Paula S. (name changed): “The boss insulted us as wearing aluminum hats. He dismissed our concerns as a kindergarten and clearly threatened: ‘Get vaccinated or you will be kicked out!’ “
And further: “I am not a vaccination opponent. I just wanted a few more days to think it over. It is a cheek if someone gives me a deadline on such a personal matter. “
She reported her ex-boss for coercion and wants to sue him at the labor court. Most of the seven fired employees already have a new job – geriatric nurses are in demand in the pandemic.
Willmer is now looking for new nurses, wants his staff to be vaccinated soon, says: “I am doing everything to protect our patients. That is my moral duty! ”
