100% teleworking can become more flexible from January 7, announces Elisabeth Borne

The rules on teleworking will be relaxed from January 7 to allow 100% teleworking employees to return to the site one day a week, Elisabeth Borne, the Minister of Labor, announced to AFP on Monday, December 14.

“The modalities will be defined within the framework of the social dialogue in the companies”, she added after a weekly meeting on Covid-19 with employer and union organizations. This relaxation will only be possible “If the health situation allows it”.

She recalled that unions (CFDT, FO, CFE-CGC and CFTC, except CGT) and employers (Medef, CPME and U2P) agreed at the end of November to sign a national inter-professional agreement (ANI) on teleworking. In this context, “It could be entrusted to the employer to define a minimum number of teleworking days per week”, the ministry said.

Since the end of October, the corporate health protocol has imposed teleworking as a rule, specifying that it must be “Increased to 100% for employees who can perform all of their tasks remotely”.

The health protocol will be updated again “At the beginning of next year, to ensure that the health situation will not show any deterioration”, said the minister. There are no other relaxations planned, according to Elisabeth Borne.
